How it works

Neuropsychological assessments help you to understand yourself better and answer important questions you might have related to your difficulties.

Although it can feel overwhelming our aim is to help empower you by providing explanations for your difficulties, identifying the strengths you can harness and giving you guidance for the future.

Here’s how it works:

  • We conduct a clinical interview with yourself and someone close to you (if appropriate) where we ask you lots of questions regarding your current functioning.

We also review all relevant records to help inform your assessment (e.g., academic reports, medical reports, past assessments etc).

  • You will engage in various tasks designed to assess your β€œthinking skills” such as your language, visual skills, memory, concentration and problem solving.

In some cases you will be guided through structured diagnostic interviews aimed to directly assess certain psychological conditions.

You will then complete self-report questionnaires which are typically emailed to you following the assessment.

  • Following the assessment we analyse all the information we have gathered (i.e., interview, past records, psychometric data) and present it in a comprehensive report to answer your questions.

This includes an explanation of your test results, a detailed formulation of your difficulties, diagnostic opinions where appropriate, recommendations for your next steps and examples of individualised strategies which harness your strengths.

  • We provide you with comprehensive feedback of your results (or in some cases we give this directly to your referrer).

During a 60-minute session we describe and provide context to the findings, explain any diagnoses and orientate you to the recommendations, strategies and next steps.
