Social Media Policy

For clinical psychologists registered with AHPRA, specific rules and ethical obligations must be met when interacting on digital platforms. This information outlines Create Space Psychology’s social media policy and what to expect regarding any online interactions across social media platforms, particularly for those who are recipients of psychological services from Create Space Psychology.

Interactions and Following

Create Space Psychology and its psychologists do not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on any personal or business accounts across various social networking platforms, including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok or other digital platforms. Adding clients as contacts on these sites can compromise their confidentiality and privacy, as well as blurring the boundaries of the therapeutic relationship.

If you would like to contact Create Space Psychology in between sessions, please do so via email hello@createspacepsychology.com.au. Please do not use social networking sites to contact Create Space Psychology, as these sites are not secure and could compromise your confidentiality. It may also create the possibility that these exchanges become a part of your legal medical record and will need to be documented and archived in your file. Create Space Psychology and its psychologists or other stakeholders will not read or respond to communication from clients on social media sites.

You are welcome to view and follow Create Space Psychology on Facebook or Instagram pages, where blog posts, psychology information and news, and professional and practice updates are shared. However, Create Space Psychology will not follow you back for the reasons outlined above. There is no expectation that you as a client must follow Create Space Psychology on social media platforms and you are encouraged to use your own discretion in choosing whether or not to do so, knowing that interactions may impact the confidentiality of your therapeutic journey. If you would like to discuss any of the content on Create Space Psychology’s social media platforms, you are welcome to email hello@createspacepsychology.com.au or discuss in session with your psychologist.

Online Searches

Create Space Psychology and its psychologists and other stakeholders will not use search engines or social media platforms to seek information regarding present, future or prospective clients. This is an invasion of your privacy and knowledge of your online activities can blur the boundaries of the therapeutic relationship.

Business Reviews

It is unethical for psychologists to solicit testimonials from therapy clients, as outlined in the Australian Psychological Association's Ethics Code. If you happen to find Create Space Psychology on review sites, please note that these listings are not instigated from Create Space Psychology and are developed by unrelated third parties. You certainly have the right to express yourself on these sites if you wish, however, due to confidentiality, Create Space Psychology will be unable to respond to any review on such sites, whether positive or negative. We are committed to safeguarding your confidentiality and we encourage you to do the same.

Please be aware that google business accounts have an inbuilt review function of which Create Space Psychology is unable to remove. Please do not view this function as a request for a testimonial, and we recommend you do not provide any reviews or testimonials  to protect your confidentiality. Any feedback you wish to provide can be provided to us at hello@createspacepsychology.com.au.
